Detroit — Renaissance gets another shot — and the stakes are higher.

After falling to East English Village, 61-50 in January, a game in which it trailed 12-0 and shot 29 percent, Renaissance hopes tonight’s Public School League title matchup at Calihan Hall has a different feel.

Tip-off is set for 7 p.m. following the girls title game between King and Renaissance, which starts at 5 p.m.

Senior guard Justin Turner led Renaissance (15-2) to the PSL title game last year, but missed the potential winner as eventual state champion Western won by one point.

Turner has been one of the premier players in the league, averaging 20 points. He has offers from Louisiana Tech, Central Michigan, Detroit and Buffalo.

East English (15-3) counters with senior guard Kamari Newman (George Mason), who is averaging 28 points, and 6-foot-5, 240-pound Cedric Lattimore (Iowa, football). Lattimore’s will challenge 6-7, 280-pound A.J. Jackson of Renaissance —the two will be football teammates at Iowa next year.

East English pulled out a 71-70 semifinal victory over Northwestern to advance.

In the girls final, defending champion King (15-1) hopes to avenge a 68-64 loss to Renaissance (14-3) in a game guard Tia Tedford scored 34.

The backcourt matchup between King’s Micaela Kelly (DePaul) and Renaissance’s Siyeh Frazier (Penn State) should be interesting.
