Brooke Thomas struck out 17 as Detroit Cass Tech defeated Detroit Western International, 4-1, Thursday.

Anika Mosley drove in two runs and Rosie Wise doubled and scored twice for Cass Tech (10-2, 6-1 PSL).

Belicia Flores struck out 10 for Western (5-2 PSL).

Detroit Renaissance 17, Detroit King 0 (4 inn.): Freshman Kayla Brown threw a no-hitter with 10 strikeouts for Renaissance. She was 4-for-4 with a double and five RBIs.

Freshman Brianne Hill was 3-for-4 with three RBIs for Renaissance (16-3).


Birmingham Groves 4, Detroit King 3 (9 inn.): Max Novick (2-for-2, two RBIs) drove in the go-ahead run and Chaise Ford struck out seven batters and earned the win on the mound with 52/3 innings of relief for Groves (15-4). Josh Yunker struck out five for Groves (15-4), and Connor Bradbury was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Noah Zacharias doubled.

Detroit Country Day 9, Detroit Cass Tech 2: Jackson Berger pitched four perfect innings, striking out three, for Country Day (14-3). Tanner Greve was 1-for-2 with two RBIs and Will Krushena was 2-for-2 with an RBI for Country Day.

Melvindale ABT 13-17, Detroit University Prep Science & Math 2-9: In Game 1, Cameron Pope hit a home run and drove in two runs for Melvindale ABT (15-4, 10-0 Michigan Metro Athletic Conference), which won both games in five innings. Rene Juarez was 2-for-2 with two RBIs and Thomas Chandler had nine strikeouts for Melvindale. Byron McCants and Johnny Ballard both went 2-for-2 with an RBI for University Prep (6-3, 6-3 MMAC). In Game 2, Pope went 3-for-3 with three RBIs and Damone Pesley was 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Melvindale. McCants had a double and two RBIs for UPSM.
