Tuesday's roundup: Mercy's Krzywiecki ties state record with 18th HR

Farmington Hills Mercy’s Abby Krzywiecki tied a single-season Michigan High School Athletic Association softball record Tuesday night with her 18th home run of the season in her team’s doubleheader against Utica Eisenhower.

Krzywiecki hit the record-setting blast in her final at-bat of the second game.

Mercy swept the doubleheader, taking the first game, 4-1, and the second game, 8-4.

Madison Jones (Romeo, 2015), Camri Grace (Williamston, 2014) and Melinda Van Gillis (Pentwater, 1979) are the others to hit 18 home runs in a season.


Detroit Northwestern 19, Detroit Mumford 10: Jonathan Dalton was the winning pitcher, Treycell Houston went 2-for-3 with three RBIs and Kollin Gantt went 2-for-2 with four RBIs for Northwestern (3-7).

Rochester Hills Stoney Creek 9-6, Pontiac Notre Dame Prep 6-1: In Game 1, Trevor Huntsinger had a two-run single for Stoney Creek. Kory Czajkowski went 2-for-3 with two RBIs for Notre Dame Prep. In Game 2, Trevor Dean pitched a complete game and Anthony Miller went 2-for-4 with an RBI for Stoney Creek. Andrew Carpenter went 2-for-3 with a run scored for Notre Dame Prep.

Girls soccer

New Baltimore Anchor Bay 5, Port Huron 0: Casey Couturier had two goals while Ashley Foster, Sydney Wolf and Haley Finazzo scored one each for Anchor Bay (11-5-5) in a District 1 playoff.
