St. Mary’s WR KJ Hamler transferring to IMG Academy

Orchard Lake St. Mary’s receiver KJ Hamler announced on Twitter Tuesday that he will be transferring to Florida’s IMG Academy for his senior season.
“After a long talk with my family and with great thought and consideration, I have decided not to continue my senior year at Orchard Lake St. Mary’s. I will be finishing my senior year at IMG Academy in Florida,” he tweeted. “I would like to thank St. Mary’s and the coaches for the three years I have had with them. I appreciate everyone who has supported me my last three years at OLAKE, and the brotherhood I gained.
“But this is a opportunity that I feel is best for me at this time and I hope my brotherly bond continues as I begin my new journey. Please respect my decision and thank you.”
Hamler was part of a St. Mary’s team that won back-to-back Division 3 state titles, beating Muskegon, 7-0, in 2014 and Chelsea, 29-12, last season.
Hamler is rated a four-star prospect by Scout.com and a three-star by 247sports.com. He has offers from Michigan, Michigan State, Oregon, Louisville, Mississippi State, Minnesota, Penn State and West Virginia, among others.
