Trevion Williams, a 6-foot-8 junior forward, had a monster night — 35 points and 32 rebounds — leading Detroit Henry Ford Academy to an 82-61 win over Dearborn Henry Ford Academy on Friday night.

Henry Ford Academy (2-2) had a 35-30 lead at halftime.

It plays Taylor Prep on Jan. 10.

Dearborn Henry Ford Academy is 1-6 and off until Jan. 3 when it plays Hope of Detroit.

River Rouge moves to 6-0

Two players had double-doubles for River Rouge, which stayed undefeated with a 78-41 win over Mount Clemens.

Senior point guard Darian Owens-White had 25 points and 10 assists, senior guard DreQuan Bell added 23 points and senior forward Jarrius Grissom had 13 points and 10 rebounds for River Rouge (6-0), which led 33-14 at halftime.

“They’re our senior captains,” River Rouge assistant coach Jerrod Abram said of the 5-foot-10 Owens-White and the 6-foot-3 Bell. “They’re very important to our team. They carry the load offensively and defensively with their leadership.”

Abram said Grissom, the football team’s 6-foot-2 quarterback and an Eastern Michigan football commit who transferred to River Rouge from Dearborn Heights Robichaud before the school year started, has been a big asset.

“He (brings) leadership, he’s a winner and he’s tough,” Abram said.

As far as X-factors for River Rouge, Abram said 6-foot-5 center Dalen Parker and 6-foot-4 forward Delante Peterson fit that role.

“(They are) just a presence in the paint, they control the defensive back line and they rebound and score for us,” he said of the senior starters, who combined for 15 points and 12 rebounds on Friday.

River Rouge plays Warren Michigan Collegiate on Friday in the New Years Classic at River Rouge.

6-foot-3 sophomore guard Delano Williams scored 18 for Mount Clemens (3-3), which is off until Jan. 6, when it plays Orchard Lake St. Mary’s.
