Clawson relied on 10 rebounds from Kelli Nolan and outlasted New Haven, 43-31, on Wednesday.

Raquel Lewis added nine rebounds, Tamera Parker chipped in with six rebounds and Jackie Hauser led Clawson (8-3, 4-0 MAC Bronze) with 16 points.

“Rebounds truly won the game,” Clawson coach Jenny Stanton said. “We got a lot of second- and third-chance opportunites on offense.”

Stanton highlighted Nolan’s effort on the boards.

“She found the right place at the right time. She’s got the skill, and it came through tonight,” Stanton said.

The game was played evenly until the third quarter, when Clawson started to pull away and then effectively killed the clock.

“It was pivotal for us to realize the clock was on our side. We did the little things right,” Stanton said.
