Monday’s roundup: Sanders caps wild comeback for ABT

Jamar Sanders hit the winning shot with one second left and capped a 15-point, fourth-quarter comeback for Melvindale ABT in a 55-53 win Monday over Detroit Community in a Michigan Metro Athletic Conference boys basketball game.

Sanders finished with 13 points, while teammates Elijah Smith had 13 points and 13 rebounds and Issac Brooks scored 13 for ABT (3-9, 2-4).

Community is 6-9, 3-4.

Utica Ford 57, Warren Cousino 46: Alek Ivanovic scored 17 and Donnie Shuster 12 for Ford (10-6).

Girls basketball

Birmingham Groves 60, Rochester Adams 46: Sha Carter had 25 points and Kayla Nelson 14 for Groves (15-2). Maggie Rogers scored 17, Makayla Smith 12 and Ryian Owusu 11 for Adams.

Detroit East English 52, Detroit CMA 23: C’Erra MaHolmes scored 23, Jayla Smith had 17 points and 10 assists, for East English (13-5). VanTare Garrett had 14 points for CMA.

Grosse Ile 57, Carleton Airport 49: Madison Swick scored 14 and Marisa Swick had 15 points and 10 rebounds for Grosse Ile (9-7, 8-5 Huron League). Emily Swiercz had 20 points for Airport (14-2, 12-1).

River Rouge 75, Detroit University Prep Science & Math 9: Mikayla Cooper had 18 points and 13 steals, Asia Turner had 15 points and 13 rebounds, and Lindsey Hall scored 10 for River Rouge (13-4).
