A trio of senior captains led the way for Farmington Hills Mercy in a Wednesday night girls basketball victory over Macomb Lutheran North, 54-28.

The victory sends Mercy to the Catholic League A-B Tournament championship. Mercy has won 12 consecutive games.

“I thought we played a complete game tonight,” Mercy coach Gary Morris said. “We played four good quarters at both ends of the floor.”

Morris praised senior captains Chloe Godbold, Jackie Bauer and Katie Coe following the semifinal win.

“Chloe (Godbold) and Jackie (Bauer) both shot the ball well tonight but I thought it was Katie’s best game in a while,” Morris said.

Godbold led the way with 14 points and Bauer scored 13 for Mercy (16-2). Coe finished with 12 points and seven rebounds.

Hannah Milligan and Ashleigh Thomas each scored nine for Lutheran North (11-7).

With the win, Mercy will face Bloomfield Hills Marian on Sunday afternoon in the championship at Wayne State.

Mercy has beaten Marian in both meetings this season.

“We know what to expect from Marian,” Morris said. “We know it’s going to be a tough game. It’s going to be a tough matchup for us.”
