Kalon Gervin has reopened his recruitment.
Gervin, a 2018 four-star defensive back/wide receiver from Detroit Cass Tech, tweeted on Saturday that he has decommitted from Notre Dame.
“I will be stepping off on my commitment to Notre Dame,” Gervin posted. “This is the best decision for me and my family at this time.
“Please respect my decision.”
Gervin committed to the Irish in February, choosing Notre Dame over Michigan, Michigan State, Tennessee, LSU, Wisconsin, and Oklahoma, among others.
He is rated the No. 1 corneback in the state by Scout.com, No. 3 in the Midwest, and 24th nationally.
Gervin, as a 5-foot-10, 170-pound junior, helped Cass Tech to the Division 1 state championship this past fall, earning a spot on The News’ All-Detroit first-team after breaking up 14 passes and intercepting a pass.
