Thursday’s prep roundup: Leinen is lacrosse All-American

South Lyon girls lacrosse freshman Hope Leinen was named a 2017 Brine National High School All-American on Thursday.

Leinen was selected to represent the state of Michigan at the 2017 National Lacrosse Classic in Richmond, Virginia, at River City Sportsplex from July 18-21.

According to the National Lacrosse Classic website, the girls selected represent the best lacrosse talent in the nation selected from regional tryouts in the United States and Canada.

Baseball

Detroit Country Day 12, Rochester 10: John Barnwell was the winning pitcher and finished 2-for-4 with a double and an RBI, Anthony Toma was 3-for-4 with two RBIs, Parker Pilat was 2-for-4 and added two RBIs and Nick Neibauer finished 2-for-2 with three RBIs for Country Day (20-6).

Detroit King 15, Detroit Cass Tech 0 (4 innings): Jonathan Darby pitched a no-hitter with eight strikeouts and went 2-for-2 with one RBI in a PSL semifinal. Mark Duke went 3-for-4 with two doubles and three runs scored.

Grosse Pointe Woods University Liggett 15-15, Ann Arbor Greenhills 2-0: In Game 1, William Morrison was 3-for-4 with a double, three-run homer and four RBIs, Teddy Wujek was 3-for-4 with three doubles and three RBIs and Jackson Walkowiak was 2-for-3 with a double and three-run home run for Liggett (22-1, 10-0 MIAC Blue). In Game 2, Morrison tossed a no-hitter over four innings, striking out six and walking one while going 3-for-4 at the plate. Walkowiak was 1-for-2 with a walk and a home run and Wujek was 2-for-3 with a grand slam and five RBIs. Greenhills is 15-7, 7-5.

Howell 13, Plymouth 12: Sam Weatherly, Jack Rossbach and Johnny Shields each had three hits for Howell (21-8), and Weatherly added four RBIs. Matt Marco and Jacob MacBrien each had three hits for Plymouth.

Southfield A&T 2, Royal Oak 1: Danny Little pitched a complete game, earning the win and allowing just one hit while striking out eight batters for A&T (12-14-1). Khalil Smith was 1-for-3 with an RBI. Jake Isaacson pitched 6 2/3 innings, striking out six and allowing four hits and two runs for Royal Oak.

Sterling Heights Stevenson 12, Macomb Dakota 6: Zach Roth pitched a complete game, allowing nine hits and three earned runs with a strikeout, leading Stevenson (22-6, 13-2 MAC Red) to the outright division title. Mario Camilletti was 3-for-4 with four RBIs, Garrett Navarra was 2-for-3 with two runs scored and an RBI, Luke McGuire was 2-for-2 with a double and an RBI and Todd Paperd had two hits and three RBIs. Ty Marasco had two hits for Dakota.

Troy Athens 6, Birmingham Groves 4: Joey Stark was 2-for-4 with two doubles, three RBIs and a run and Jeremy Murphy finished 3-for-4 with a double and an RBI for Athens. Zavier Warren finished 2-for-3 with a double and an RBI and Andrew Martin had a pinch-hit RBI single for Groves (28-4, 13-1 OAA White).
