With 4 seconds remaining and his team on the verge of blowing a 20-point lead, Woodhaven junior guard Joshua Warren stepped up and made one of the most dramatic plays in school history.

Lincoln Park was coming out of a timeout with the ball near mid-court and the score tied at 55. Warren jumped the pass and pulled up for a 3-pointer at the buzzer that gave Woodhaven a 58-55 win in Downriver League play and sent the crowd into a frenzy.

“The crowd came onto the floor and everyone’s tackling him,” Warren’s father and Woodhaven assistant coach Wes Warren said. “It’s one of the first game-winners we’ve had in years and you would’ve thought it was for the championship.”

Lincoln Park hit its fifth 3-pointer of the fourth quarter to take the lead with 15 seconds remaining before Brent Bryant split a pair from the line to tie the score.

That’s when Warren struck. He finished with 15 points.

The late-game heroics helped Woodhaven (6-1, 4-0) escape after Lincoln Park had staged a rally to erase a 20-point first half deficit.

“We went cold from the field and they slowed the game down and began to make 3-pointers,” Wes Warren said. “We were able to make the big stop and hit the big shot at the end to win it.”

Colin Czajkowski had a team-high 16 points for Woodhaven.

Damion Clayton scored 14 and Khalid Flemming 13 to pace Lincoln Park (4-3, 2-2).
