Wednesday’s prep roundup: Rochester edges Troy

It was a close one for the Rochester girls basketball team, who picked up their second win of the season Wednesday, defeating Troy 42-41.

Jenna Norgrove and Anna Winkler each scored eight points for Rochester (2-7, 2-5 OAA White).

Rochester was on a two game losing streak entering tonight’s game.

Athena Samson finished with nine points for Troy (5-4, 3-4 OAA White). Troy took a 21-20 lead going into the half.

After three quarters, the score was tied at 35. Those seven points that Rochester scored in the fourth proved to be the deciding factor in their victory.

Both teams will be in action on Friday as Rochester will take on Oxford and Troy will square off against Bloomfield Hills Cranbrook-Kingswood.

Boys hockey

Milford 4, Walled Lake Northern 0: Hunter Bartholomew made 36 saves and Tyler Conklin had two goals and an assist for Milford (7-5, 4-3 Lakes Western). Northern is 6-4-1, 1-3-1.
