Wednesday's prep roundup: Detroit Mumford survives Arbor Prep
During the second half, Detroit Mumford had a 15-point lead against Ypsilanti Arbor Prep and Arbor Prep trimmed that to two points. But Mumford was able to close out and defeat Arbor Prep, 44-35, in a high school girls basketball game Wednesday.

Mumford (7-3) was led by junior Tierra Ernest who finished with 20 points. Brooklyn Taylor and Zamaria Polk also had impressive games for Mumford, which posted its third-straight win.
Taylor had nine points, 12 assists and five steals and Polk finished with eight points and 12 rebounds.
“We were able to get some good shots early in the game,” Mumford coach Kareem Hogan said.
Mumford’s defense stepped up in a big way.
“Our defense was real tough,” Hogan said. “We wanted to pressure the guards and make them uncomfortable.”
Hogan said he was pleased with the way his team played against Arbor Prep.
“I would give the girls a solid 'A' based on their performance tonight. They showed a lot of resilience throughout the game,” Hogan said. “We had a big lead. (Arbor Prep) made a comeback and then we were able to take it right back from them.”
Even though it was an impressive win, Hogan noticed some things his team needs to work on.
“Turnovers, we need to take better care of the ball and adjust to the other teams' adjustments coming out of the second half,” he said.
Arbor Prep falls to 7-4.
