East English's Tyrone Sampson commits to Fresno State

Detroit East English center Tyrone Sampson is ranked No. 4 on The News' Blue Chip list.

Detroit East English center Tyrone Sampson liked what he witnessed on his official visit to Fresno State Friday.

Sampson, a four-star offensive lineman and the No. 4 ranked player on The News' Blue Chip list, was so pleased he committed to Fresno State.

Sampson had originally committed to Syracuse and had planned to enroll early, but then decommitted in December, saying he wanted to take more official visits.

Sampson passed on not only the early signing period on Dec. 20-22, but also on the second signing period, which was Feb. 7.

Sampson will be joining a 10-4 Fresno State team which lost to Boise State in the Mountain West championship game before defeating Houston 34-27 in the Hawaii Bowl.
