Chippewa Valley’s Marcel Lewis to make college pick Wednesday

Marcel Lewis, a three-star linebacker from Clinton Township Chippewa Valley, will reveal his college choice Wednesday.

“The time has come,” Lewis, a 2019 recruit, tweeted Tuesday. “I will be officially committing on April 18th.”

Michigan and Michigan State are among his offers, as well as Big Ten foes Indiana, Minnesota, and Purdue, and a host of others. And, while 247Sports’ “Crystal Ball” has Michigan State as the favorite, Lewis has said he grew up a Michigan fan.

“I know coming down to making my decision, (Michigan) would be one of my top schools,” Lewis told The Michigan Insider’s Brice Marich. “I just love the culture of Michigan. Michigan is one of the greatest in college football and I just love everything about the university.”

The 6-foot-1, 205-pound Lewis is ranked the No. 18 player in Michigan by 247Sports, and the No. 25 inside linebacker in the country. As a junior, he recorded 88 tackles (11 for loss) and three sacks for a Chippewa Valley.
