Detroit Osborn defeated Detroit Central, 10-0, in a Detroit Public School League Division II baseball semifinal at The Corner Ballpark on Wednesday.
Osborn advanced for the second straight season to the championship game, which will be played at 2 p.m. Monday at Comerica Park.
Last year Osborn lost to Detroit Edison 8-4 in a hard-fought championship game. This year, Osborn has a shot at redemption.
Osborn wasted no time jumping to an early lead, and Isaiah Watts made it stand up.
Watts pitched a complete game, giving up three hits and striking out five. Central could not find a way to get Watts out of his groove.
Teionta Waters led Osborn’s offense, going 1-for-3 with a home run and two RBIs. He’ll be looking to repeat his strong performance in last season’s championship game, in which he went 2-for-3 with two RBIs.
The PSL Division I championship game will follow the Osborn/Mumford game on Monday.
Birmingham Groves 11, North Farmington 3: Twelve players had a hit for Groves, led by George Cutler and Chaise Ford, who were each 2-for-3 with a double and a walk. Ryan Laub (17-8) was the winning pitcher. Blake Maddalena was 3-for-4 for North Farmington (12-13).
