Connor Brawley, Jared Evans and Logan Morrow each had two hits to help Stevensville Lakeshore repeat as Division 2 state champions with a 6-3 win over Saginaw Swan Valley.
Lakeshore scored a pair of runs in the opening inning, getting hits by Sean Branch, Bray Plomb and Cam Dalrymple and taking advantage of two Swan Valley errors.
Lakeshore scored two more in the fourth for a 4-0 cushion, getting two hits and having one batter get hit while another walked.
Senior Joel Brawley — Connor’s cousin — earned the win, throwing four shutout innings while Lakeshore was building a 6-0 lead before giving up a run in the bottom of the fifth. He left after going 6⅔ innings.
Lakeshore pitchers had built up a string of 27 consecutive shutout innings over the last two years in the State Finals at MSU before Swan Valley scored the run in the fifth.
Lakeshore blanked Orchard Lake St. Mary’s 3-0 in 10 innings in a semifinal Thursday.
