High school football season in Michigan is just around the corner.

Teams can begin practicing on Aug. 6 and games will kick off on Aug. 23.

With that in mind, The Detroit News presents an early look at our top 20 football players in Michigan in this gallery, with analysis by David Goricki. (Go here if you hare having trouble viewing the gallery.)

We’ll update this list just before the start of the season, after players have gone through fall camp.

But for now, enjoy this first taste of the 2018 high school football season.
