Jake Mlynarek excelled on both sides of the football, scoring Macomb Lutheran North's lone touchdown while recording three sacks in a 10-0 victory over Royal Oak Shrine in a Catholic League crossover game.

Mlynarek, who ran for 112 yards on 20 carries, scored on a 2-yard run for Lutheran North (6-1), which was also aided by a 30-yard field goal from Jackson Griske.

Mlynarek, a senior running back who also plays middle linebacker, registered nine tackles, including  six for losses.

Shrine High's muddy playing surface dictated the offensive attack, which meant running the ball between the tackles, Lutheran North coach Garrett Wenzelburger said. North's Angelo Basilisco finished with 68 yards on 14 carries.

"I'm from Wisconsin and I've played in some Mud Bowls," said Wenzelburger, who is from Milwaukee. "These were the muddiest conditions I have played on."

Shrine falls to 3-4.
