Detroit King four-star tackle Deondre Buford is headed for Kentucky after the season concludes with what he hopes will be another state championship at Ford Field.

Buford (6-4, 275 pounds) announced his decision Monday and he intends to be an early-enrollee.

Buford, No. 16 on The Detroit News list of top Michigan players heading into this season, picked Kentucky over LSU, Miami, Pittsburgh, Purdue and 20 other schools.

Buford is the third player in The News’ Top 20 to pick Kentucky, joining Oak Park four-star tackle Justin Rogers (No. 1) and Flint Beecher receiver/cornerback Earnest Sanders (No. 20).

“I just got the feeling that I liked it there when I took my official visit back in June, I liked the coaches, felt like they showed genuine love and it’s not too far from home,” Buford said. “I felt like the coaches kept it real and a lot of coaches don’t during the recruiting process.”

King has won three state championships in the last four years, winning the Division 3 title last year.
