Andy Dirks’ return hits another roadblock; hamstring sidelines Tigers outfielder

The rehabilitation of outfielder Andy Dirks has hit yet another snag. He has been shut down for the third time in the last month, again because of a tight hamstring.

He tweaked it again Sunday night in Toledo. He had doubled and scored on a double by Tyler Collins, but he didn’t run in, he limped in.

Dirks is trying to come back after back surgery. The back has responded fine to this point. His legs, however, have betrayed him.

There is no word on when he’ll resume his rehab assignment, but it’s looking increasingly doubtful he’ll rejoin the Tigers in September.
