Ticket broker offers fans money back if Tigers lose while Kelly plays or Nathan blows save

Fans are frustrated with Don Kelly and Joe Nathan.

Well, apparently, so are the ticket brokers.

And one, The Ticket Machine out of suburban Lansing, has decided to take stand, offering a promotion that could get you into next week’s Tigers-White Sox series for free.

Here’s how this works. If you buy from The Ticket Machine tickets to any of the three Tigers-White Sox games at Comerica Park next week, you'll get completely refunded if one of two things happens: If the Tigers start Kelly and lose, or if the Tigers use Nathan in a closing situation and they lose.

“I just get so frustrated watching Kelly play and watching Nathan close when (Joakim) Soria’s sitting in the bullpen,” said Brian Posey, owner of The Ticket Machine. “I don’t feel like I would want to pay for tickets if those two things happen.

“I’m sure there are others.”

The Ticket Machine, based in Okemos, has about 600 total tickets left for the White Sox series.

Fans can purchase them by calling (888) 887-4411 or visiting theticketmachine.com – and, who knows, the tickets could end up being free.

Posey started thinking about the promotion a couple weeks ago, but Tuesday night’s loss, in which Kelly started and batted sixth and Nathan blew the save, proved to be his tipping point.

The Tigers play the White Sox next Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday.

“I don’t want to be negative,” Posey said. “Obviously we have a huge financial interest in the Tigers.

“But last night put me over the edge.”
