* Alex Avila is out for the third straight game with concussion-like symptoms.

* J.D. Martinez homered in the ninth inning Tuesday and he now has eight ninth-inning homers this season. That ties Alex Rodriguez for second-most in a season since 1914. Tony Batista hit 10 in 2000 and Rodriguez hit his eight in 2007.
