Detroit — What a difference a year makes.
This time last season, Miguel Cabrera was limping — literally — into the playoffs.
Now, he appears to be feeling as good as he has in more than a year, and he has the hardware to show for it.
Cabrera on Tuesday was named the American League player of the month for September, after batting .379 with a 1.118 OPS, eight home runs and 18 RBIs.
This is the fourth player of the month honor for Cabrera; all of them have come with the Tigers.
He's the second Tiger to win the award this year, after Victor Martinez did in August.
