Former Tigers outfielder Billy Bean, one of two former major league baseball players who acknowledged they were gay, is the subject of an hour-long special at 9 p.m. Tuesday on MLB Network.

Bean, who is MLB's ambassador of inclusion, narrates "The Story of Billy Bean," which is hosted by Bob Costas.

Bean played for the Tigers from 1987-89. He also played for the Dodgers and Padres.

The other known gay player was Glenn Burke, who died in 1995.
