Report: Tigers, Jays have 'discussions' about Navarro
The Tigers and Blue Jays hooked up in November for a trade that brought outfielder Anthony Gose to Detroit.
Jeff Blair of Toronto Sportsnet reports the two teams have had "discussions" about getting together again, this time for a possible trade involving Blue Jays catcher Dioner Navarro.
Navarro, a 30-year-old switch-hitter, hit .274 with 12 home runs and 69 RBIs last season, his first in Toronto. Navarro has played for six teams in 11 seasons.
Navarro presumably would give the Tigers insurance behind the plate, given Alex Avila's history with concussions, as well as another option at designated hitter as Victor Martinez recovers from a knee injury.
Blair reports the Blue Jays are seeking pitching in return for any trade involving Navarro.
