Tigers worth $1.125 billion, Forbes says
The Tigers franchise is valued at $1.125 billion, according to analysis by Forbes magazine. That ranks No. 13 among the 30 MLB teams.
The Tigers are one of 15 teams valued at $1 billion or more, up from five in 2014.
The Yankees top the list at $3.2 billion, followed by the Dodgers ($2.4 billion) and Red Sox ($2.1 billion).
Forbes says the average team value is $1.2 billion, a 48-percent increase over 2014.
The increase is driven by TV contracts, which accounted for 37 percent MLB's $7.86 billion in revenue in 2014.
