The Tigers completed their march through a three-day draft Wednesday when they polished off their final selections in a 40-round talent lottery.

Among the noteworthy players taken Wednesday in rounds 11-40:

A.J. Simcox, a 6-foot-3, 195-pound, right-handed-hitting shortstop from Tennessee, 14th round. Simcox was one of the Southeastern Conference's many talented, draft-attractive shortstops in 2015. He batted .293 for the Volunteers and figures to return to Knoxville if the Tigers don't offer appealing money.

Dayton Dugas, 6-2, 225-pound outfielder from Sam Houston High, in Moss Bluff, La., 29th round. Tigers would need to buy Dugas away from his commitment to Wichita State. But he has the right-handed bat and upside that a team dreams of stealing in the 29th round.

COMPLETE LIST OF TIGERS DRAFT PICKS

Cole McKay, 6-5, 225-pound, right-handed pitcher, from Smithson Valley High, in Spring Branch, Texas, 30th round, McKay is bound for LSU, but that didn't stop Detroit from taking a shot at him with a late-round pick. McKay has immense potential, but seems intent on letting it develop at LSU.

The Tigers have until 5 p.m. July 17 to sign drafted players. The money allocated to the Tigers by commissioner Rob Manfred's office for signing Detroit's drafted players in 2015 is $7.1 million.

Braves take Hoekstra

Western Michigan junior infielder Kurt Hoekstra was selected by the Braves in the 21st round (630th overall).

A Grand Rapids native, Hoekstra has been a two-year starter for the Broncos, splitting time between shortstop and second base. Named the team's MVP, he led Western Michigan in average (.322), at-bats (214), runs (39), hits (69), triples (3), total bases (105), slugging percentage (.491) and multi-hit games (23). He was second in doubles (15), RBIs (34), home runs (3), on-base percentage (.401) and stolen bases (6-for-7).

Hoekstra was the second Western Michigan player drafted this week, following junior catcher Brett Sunde, who was selected in the 18th round (548th overall) by the A's.
