McCann's latest walk-off puts him in select company
James McCann's ninth-inning walk-off home run Sunday was his second in 38 days. Here's some historical perspective:
*He is the third player in MLB history to have two or more walk-off home runs among his first three career homers. The others are Kirby Higbe (a pitcher, 1947-1948) and Kevin Romine, father of Tigers Andrew Romine (1988-1990).
*He's the first player to have two or more walk-off home runs in their first 61 career games since Tim Salmon did it for the Yankees in his 40th game in 1993.
*He's the first Tiger to post multiple walk-off home runs in a season in Brandon Inge in 2011.
*His two walk-off home runs in 38 days is the fastest by a Tiger since Miguel Cabrera hit two in 27 days in 2008.
*He is the first Tiger with two walk-off homers before July 1 since Mickey Tettleton had three in 1992.
