Report: Tigers to hire Sartori to run analytics
Detroit — The Tigers are expected to hire Jay Sartori as senior director of baseball operations and analytics, according to a report by FOXSports.com's Jon Paul Morosi.
Sartori most recently worked for Apple, but from 2010 to 2013 was an assistant general manager for the Blue Jays, working mostly on matters of arbitration, contracts and collective bargaining.
He was the director of baseball operations for the Nationals for one season and before that worked for the league’s legal department.
In August, the Tigers promoted Sam Menzin from analytics coordinator to head of baseball operations. Presumably, he will report to Sartori.
The Tigers are expected to announce the hiring of Sartori on Tuesday.
