Moya falls off Tigers’ top 10 prospects list

Baseball America revealed its list of the Tigers’ top 10 prospects on Friday, and the biggest surprise was who wasn’t there.

Outfielder Steven Moya, who hit .240 with 20 homers for Triple-A Toledo last season, is not on the list, although Baseball America’s Ben Badler said in a chat Moya was just off the list. Moya was No. 2 last year, when he hit 35 homers for Double-A Erie.

The No. 1 prospect is right-hander Michael Fulmer, obtained from the Mets last July in the Yoenis Cespedes deal. Badler said he expects Fulmer, who was 10-3 with a 2.24 ERA for Mets and Tigers Double-A teams last season, to be in Detroit by midseason.

Another prospect who fell sharply was outfielder Derek Hill, the No. 1 draft pick in 2014. Hill fell from fourth to 10th on the list after an injury-plagued season at Class A West Michigan.

Right-hander Beau Burrows, the Tigers’ No. 1 pick in 2015, is No. 2.
