Lakeland, Fla. – Here’s one for the books.

The Tigers turned a triple play in the second inning Friday – though there is debate about where the third out was recorded.

The Braves loaded the bases off Shane Greene on a pair of walks and an infield single. Willians  Astudillo then hit a low liner at shortstop Jose Iglesias. Iglesias didn’t field the ball cleanly, letting it drop to the ground.

The runner on second stayed on the bag. Iglesias flipped the ball to Ian Kinsler at second. Kinsler must have tagged the runner standing on second before he stepped on the bag to force the runner from first and threw to first base.

It was difficult to tell if he did make the first tag and no television replays were available.

The Braves argued briefly but it stood as a 6-4-3 triple play.
