Kirk Gibson will throw out first pitch on Opening Day

Tigers broadcaster Kirk Gibson, a member of the 1984 World Series championship team, will throw out the first pitch for Friday’s Opening Day game against the Yankees.

Friday’s game at Comerica Park is scheduled to start at 1:10 p.m. Gates open at 11 a.m.

The Tigers begin the season with a two-game set in Miami Tuesday and Wednesday; Detroit is off on Thursday.

A brass ensemble from the Detroit Symphony Orchestra's Civic Youth Ensembles will perform the National Anthem.
