Former Tigers pitcher Max Scherzer spent 30 seconds of his time Wednesday giving a young fan a memory that should last forever.
Scherzer, now with the Nationals, was in left field Wednesday at Citi Field in New York, shagging balls as his team took batting practice.
Scherzer turned around and had a game of catch with an 11-year-old fan – who was wearing a Mets jersey and cap.
The moment was captured on video by the boy’s father, Joe La Rocca.
“How’s that?” Joe asks his son at the end of video.
“Amazing!” the 11-year-old says. "I'm not giving this ball away. There's no way."
