Detroit – Drake Britton, a left-handed pitcher for the Tigers’ Triple-A affiliate in Toledo, has been suspended 50 games without pay for violating the terms of Major League Baseball’s drug policy.
He tested positive for amphetamines, according to the league’s statement.
Britton, who pitched in the big leagues briefly with Boston, was 0-3 with a 4.57 ERA in 37 games at Toledo.
Also suspended was St. Louis Cardinals minor league second baseman Luke Doyle. He received a 100-game suspension without pay following his refusal to take a drug test.
Doyle was playing rookie ball in the Appalachian League.
