Tigers' Cabrera named Sporting News All-Star

Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera was named to the Sporting News’ American League All-Star team on Wednesday.

Cabrera, who hit .316 with 38 homers and 108 RBIs (4.9 WAR), beat out the Blue Jays' Edwin Encarnacion and White Sox Jose Abreu at the position.

The team was chosen by a panel of 29 American League executives prior to the postseason, according to the Sporting News.

Michael Fulmer was named the AL Rookie of the Year by the Sporting News earlier in the week.
