Tigers prospect Joe Jimenez lands on DL for Mud Hens
Reliever Joe Jimenez has been placed on the minor-league disabled list, after tweaking his back last week.
The move was reported by the Toledo Blade’s John Wagner, who said the injury isn’t considered serious. The Tigers, Wagner said, are simply being cautious.
Jimenez, the Tigers’ top pitching prospect, last pitched Wednesday for Triple-A Toledo, and struck out three over 1.1 innings. On the season with the Mud Hens, the hard-throwing right-hander has a 0.00 ERA in six appearances, with 13 strikeouts and two walks in 6.1 innings.
He has been with the Tigers for two brief stints this year, with a 12.46 ERA in five outings.
Jeff Ferrell was promoted from Double-A Erie to take Jimenez’s spot.
