Detroit – With Juan Perez likely to miss most of the season in Toledo, the Tigers signed former Mets and Nationals outfielder Matt den Dekker.

Den Dekker, 29, was playing for the Marlins' Triple-A team in New Orleans and opted out of his contract.

In parts of four seasons in the Major Leagues, he’s posted a .236 average with seven home runs. He can play all three outfield positions.
