First-round pick Faedo among Tigers’ 22 camp invitees
Detroit — The Tigers have invited 22 non-roster players to big-league camp, which starts Feb. 14 in Lakeland, Fla. Among them, atypically, is a rookie who has yet to make his professional debut.
Right-handed pitcher Alex Faedo, whom the Tigers took with the 18th overall pick in last year’s draft, was extended an invitation. Faedo hasn’t pitched since helping the University of Florida win the College World Series last June.
Also invited to big-league camp was catcher Jake Rogers, rated the fifth best prospect in the Tigers’ organization by Baseball America, and seventh by MLBPipeline.
