Tigers-Yankees washed out; doubleheader on Sunday

Detroit — It’s ambitious, to say the least.

But the Tigers and Yankees are going to try to play a makeup split double-header at Comerica Park on Sunday after the game Saturday was washed out by incessant rain and cold temperatures.

The problem is, the forecast for Sunday is more of the same. This is the Yankees only trip to Detroit this season, so further makeup dates will come on mutual off-days — which is problematic.

Game times Sunday are 1:10 and 7:10 p.m.

The first game will feature Yankees ace Luis Severino against Tigers’ left-hander Francisco Liriano.

Game 2 will pit former Tigers farm hand Luis Cessa, who was scheduled to pitch Saturday, against left-hander Matthew Boyd.

All Saturday tickets will be redeemed for the nightcap Sunday.
