The Detroit Tigers acquired right-hander Nick Tepesch from the Toronto Blue Jays for cash considerations, the team announced Wednesday.
Tepesch, 29, who has pitched with four major league teams, will be assigned to Double-A Erie. He is currently on the seven-day disabled list retroactive to Aug. 3.
This season, he's split time between Double-A New Hampshire and Triple-AAA Buffalo. Tepesch was 1-6 with a 7.90 ERA in his last 10 appearances with Buffalo, which includes a two-inning stint where he gave up eight runs on eight hits against Lehigh Valley July 31.
The Kansas City, Mo. native has a 10-20 record and a 4.71 ERA in the majors with Texas, Los Angeles, Minnesota and Toronto. He was 1-1 with a 5.14 ERA while starting three games for the Blue Jays last season.
The 6-foot-4, 240-pound University of Missouri product was taken in the 14th round by the Rangers in the 2010 MLB June Draft.
