Nolan Blackwood

Minneapolis — The Tigers acquired the first of two prospects they are due from the Oakland Athletics to complete the Aug. 6 trade for Mike Fiers — right-handed reliever Nolan Blackwood.

Blackwood, 23, was a 14th-round pick of the A’s in 2016 and was 6-3, with a 4.08 ERA and 1.43 WHIP pitching at Double-A Midland this season. MLB Pipeline ranked him as the No. 30 prospect in the A’s system.

Blackwood is 6-foot-5 and has a sidearm delivery. He features a fastball in the low-90s and a slider that generates a lot of ground balls.

He will likely report to Double-A Erie.

Iglesias out

Jose Iglesias was kept out of the starting lineup for the third straight game Saturday with a right hand bruise. But he took ground balls and made all the throws without any apparent discomfort.

Iglesias was available to play if needed Saturday, but Ronny Rodriguez got the start again at shortstop.
