Tigers outfielder Nick Castellanos has been named American League player of the week after batting .393 (11-for-28) in seven games.

Castellanos had three doubles, two home runs, 10 RBIs and eight runs over seven games (Aug. 13-19) to earn his first AL player of the week honor during a six-year major league career.

He is the first Tigers player to receive the award this season.

Among qualified AL leaders, he finished the week first in runs scored and RBIs.
