Detroit Grand Prix: How to watch

It's Free Prix Day at the Detroit Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix. A day of qualifying races kicks off a weekend of revving engines and the smell of burning oil.

Activities continue today until 6 p.m.on Belle Isle and grandstand seating, paddock access and admission are all free.

Races continue Saturday from 7:30 a.m.-7:30 p.m. with the highlight coming around 3:30 p.m. with the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit. Race day Sunday runs from 8 a.m.- 6 p.m. Throughout the weekend, attendees can meet with drivers for autograph sessions, children's activities in Meijer fun zone and catch concerts, including Detroit's own Romantics.

Racing activities are held rain or shine.

  • What: The Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix returns to the Motor City this weekend. The event will feature the cars of the Verizon IndyCar Series, the WeatherTech SportsCar Championship, the trucks of the SPEED Energy Stadium SUPER Trucks presented by TRAXXAS and the Trans Am Series. The weekend collectively is referred to as the Chevrolet Detroit Belle Isle Grand Prix and it will feature the Chevrolet Dual in Detroit presented by Quicken Loans IndyCar doubleheader.

  • When: Friday-Sunday, June 3-5, 2016

  • Where: The Raceway at Belle Isle Park road course

  • Track length: 2.3 miles

  • Parking: Public parking is not available on the Island. There are several shuttle buses that offer round-trip service. 

If you are attending the Detroit Chevrolet Belle Isle Grand Prix this weekend, you can't park on the Island. Here are the shuttle locations and suggested parking locations

  • Tickets: General admission tickets for Saturday and Sunday cost $40 for adults. Children 12 and younger are admitted free with a ticket-bearing adult. Limit 2 children per adult admittance. 
  • There are additional costs for paddock passes and certain grandstand seats. Multiday passes are also available. Get more information here
