Consumers Energy is title sponsor for August Cup race at MIS

Cup racing returns to MIS in June and August this year.

The Aug. 12 NASCAR Monster Energy Cup race will be called the Consumers Energy 400, Michigan International Speedway announced Thursday. It had been the Pure Michigan 400 since 2011.

Consumers Energy will also sponsor the inaugural MIS Charity Dinner and the track’s 50 Years of Racing Exhibit in the fan plaza both race weekends.

The MIS Charity Dinner June 9 will feature NASCAR greats Dale Inman, Rusty Wallace and Leonard Wood.

“Consumers Energy is proud to support a great family tradition for Michiganders who enjoy seeing NASCAR come to Michigan year after year at MIS," said Patti Poppe, president of Consumers Energy. "We look forward to powering this event and MIS, spurring economic growth for our hometowns."

Terms of the multi-year agreement were not disclosed.
