The Los Angeles Clippers signed former Michigan State standout Branden Dawson, the team announced Wednesday.

Dawson's rights were acquired in a draft-night trade with the New Orleans Pelicans, who selected the 6-foot-6 225-pound forward with a second-round pick (56th overall) and traded him to the Clippers for cash.

Dawson enjoyed a strong showing in the Orlando Summer League, averaging 12.8 points and 10.3 rebounds in four games, recording three double-doubles.

As a senior at Michigan State, Dawson averaged 11.9 points, 9.1 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 32 games, helping the Spartans reach the Final Four.
