Gores on Pistons' move: 'We're making progress'
Los Angeles — The negotiations to have the Pistons move to downtown Detroit are continuing, but there aren’t any big developments to announce.
At least not yet.
Pistons owner Tom Gores, founder of Los Angeles-based Platinum Equity, updated the progress of the talks on Monday night as the Pistons faced the Clippers at the Staples Center, but didn’t have much to report.
“No change; we’re very close,” Gores said at halftime of the game.
The Pistons are looking to partner with the Red Wings to play at the soon-to-be-completed Little Caesars Arena downtown. The Pistons have been at The Palace of Auburn Hills since 1988 but the negotiations are nearing completion, as Gores announced last month, before the home opener.
“We’re making progress,” Gores said. “In the next few weeks, we’ll know for sure.”
