Dolphins coach Joe Philbin defended defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh Monday against charges he freelanced in Sunday’s 23-20 loss to Jacksonville and ignored defensive coordinator Kevin Coyle’s script.
“There was a report that Ndamukong Suh was freelancing out there on the field,” Philbin said during Monday’s news conference. “I just watched the entire tape with the entire defensive staff. I didn’t see anything of the sort. So I’m not sure where that came from.”
Suh, who left the Lions to sign a six-year, $114 million free agent contract with the Dolphins, has three tackles in two games.
“I couldn’t tell you,” Suh told The Miami Herald when asked about his slow start. “At the end of the day, we have to go back to the drawing board and figure out what we want to run so guys can make plays and go from there.”
