SI mock draft has Lions taking Spartans’ McDowell
The first mock draft of Sports Illustrated’s The MMQB has a Michigan flavor, especially with the Lions taking Michigan State defensive lineman Malik McDowell with the 21st pick.
Emily Kaplan writes: “GM Bob Quinn needs to add some defensive talent and he knows it. McDowell didn't have a great year in East Lansing, but that’s in part because he has been hampered by several injuries. But he has the tools (not to mention the 6-6, 276-pound frame) to wreck havoc.”
The first state of Michigan player to go is Western Michigan receiver Corey Davis, to Tennessee at No. 18.
Safety Jabrill Peppers is the first of three Michigan players to be selected, at No. 19 by Tampa Bay. He is followed by defensive end Taco Charlton by the Texans at No. 25, and tight end Jake Butt by the Cowboys at No. 31.
