Allen Park — The Lions could be getting closer to full strength but still have some concerns with injuries.

Defensive ends Ezekiel Ansah and George Johnson, tackle LaAdrian Waddle, linebacker Travis Lewis and cornerback Cassius Vaughn did not participate in the portion of practice open to the media.

Ansah, who is recovering from a knee injury, did not practice Wednesday; Lewis (quad) and Waddle (calf) also were out for the second straight day.

Johnson, who has 1.5 sacks in the first two games, has a groin injury. Vaughn, who played nickel cornerback against the Panthers after Nevin Lawson left the game because of a season-ending injury, was limited Wednesday because of an ankle issue.

Safety Don Carey, who missed the first two games because of a hamstring injury, participated fully for the second straight day.

Running backs Joique Bell (knee) and Montell Owens (hamstring), defensive end Nick Fairley (biceps) and safety James Ihedigbo (neck) all were limited in practice.
